Engineering Leader

I have been leading high-performing teams since 2015. I have led teams of varying sizes and have built teams of up to 22 people. All the teams I have managed have had a wide variety of technical skills and levels. The majority of my management experience is with consumer-facing products and I enjoy the aspect of UX design as part of my role. I am a strong believer in career development and take pride in coaching my team to grow their careers. My teams have included backend engineers, site-reliability engineers, build and release engineers, native mobile engineers, quality engineers, and web-frontend engineers.

I am a strong believer in Test-Driven Development and quality as a gauge of software craftsmanship. I believe in the mantra from Grady Booch:

Clean code reads like well-written prose

Rochelle Morrison VP of Product

With his guidance, the team effectively worked together to deliver results. Personally, I am grateful for the support Andrew provided me in leveling up to Principal Engineer. Beyond the scope of the team, Andrew led broader initiatives including diversity, process design, and engineering culture. He has all the qualities needed to continue to be highly successful in our industry. I couldn't recommend him enough.

Ian Huet Principal Engineer

Author of the book titled Rules for Software Development. A book about professionalism.

Software engineering isn’t just about writing code. It’s about much more than that. Rules for Software development presents the reader with a 360° view of what it takes to truly be a professional software engineer. In today’s software industry, being proficient in the development of code is the baseline of a software engineer role. The most prominent engineers are those who understand software principles and patterns and who also understand soft skills and communication.

...an invaluable book for IT professionals -

Santiago García da Rosa, CTO, Nowports

As host of the popular podcast, The Rules of Software Development, I have spoken to major industry players from software engineers to VP’s to discuss what values and actions make a professional software developer.

We discuss how clean code, communication, empathy, being a missionary, and more, lead to creating a rounded software professional.
